Federal Student Aid


Before applying for scholarships, find out if you’re eligible for federal aid. Fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see how much of your educational costs the government will cover. This free scholarship search tool from the U.S. Department of Labor allows you to search through more than 7,000 scholarships, fellowships, loans, and other financial aid opportunities. Search by award type, residency, study level, and affiliations.

This U.S. Department of Education site lists all of the state agencies that award grants, scholarships, and other financial aid for college students. When applying for scholarships and financial aid, be sure to find out what kind of aid is available at your state agency, even if you are applying through other avenues as well.

FastWeb is a great place to search for a scholarship that fits your situation. This specific section of the site lists featured scholarships with upcoming deadlines. For a larger selection of scholarships, create a FastWeb account and search their full list of offerings.


The College Board’s BigFuture Scholarship Search


The College Board’s BigFuture Scholarship Search boasts over 2,200 programs and nearly $6 billion in scholarships, financial aid, and internships. In addition to searching for scholarships, you can also find college, career, and loan information on the site.

Scholarships.com offers a quick search for scholarships as well as email updates on scholarship, grant, and financial aid information. Search from 2.7 million scholarships and grants worth over $1.9 billion.


FinAid Major-Specific Scholarships


FinAid offers information on loans, scholarships, military aid, and other types of financial aid. On this page, you can browse a list of scholarships that are available to those studying specific majors.


CollegeData


CollegeData provides in-depth search parameters – enter your GPA, gender, residency, ethnicity/heritage, religion, area of study, and/or a keyword for a special talent, sport, honor/award you received, disability, career you plan to pursue, hobby, the county you live in, organization that you or other family members are affiliated with, company where you or other family members work, etc. to find a scholarship that fits your exact situation!


My College Dollars


Last year The College Board, Get Schooled, and MTV joined forces to create My College Dollars. This scholarship and financial aid-oriented Facebook application helps you find which scholarships, federal grants, and state grants that you’re eligible for by incorporating the information you’ve provided Facebook with your educational goals.
 
 

Check with the financial aid office at your college, your high school counselor, your local library, organizations related to your interests or affiliations, and your or your parents’ employers for additional financial aid opportunities.
